Pelican Swimming

This image of a pelican swimming has elements of humor that often leave the viewer smiling. It is unusual in that it could almost be mistaken for a comic strip character. The photograph was taken at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

Pelican Flying

The photo was taken from the Ocean Beach Pier during the break in a storm with clouds in the background and no visual reference points for land. I used a polarizing filter to enhance the contrast between sky and clouds. I like this image because it gives the impression of flying effortlessly next to the pelican and the feeling of freedom that entails.
