The Star of India, described here in an historical plaque attached to its hull, is one of the most easily recognized iconic images representing San Diego.

Mount Soledad War Memorial

Located at the highest point above La Jolla, the Memorial offers a 360 degree view of San Diego, and was built to honor all Korean War veterans.

Red, White and Blue

Serendipity is often the mother of the photograph. This image was taken from the parade grounds of the old Naval Training Center (NTC) on Point Loma, which is now a residential and retail hub called Liberty Station. By shear coincidence, a Southwest airliner, taking off from Lindberg Field due east of NTC, was flying above the flag just as the photo was taken. Note that the airliner has the same colors as the flag.

Old Glory: Star of India

The Star of India, now moored at the foot of Broadway on the Embarcadero, is the last remaining steel hulled sailing ship, which is fully functional and is sailed several times a year on the Bay and past Point Loma into the Pacific. This image, which is considered to be fine art black and white photography with color, has become one of the favorites in this collection and is available for sale in both smaller and larger, framed and unframed formats at reasonable prices -- 4x6 and 6x9 post card versions are quite popular.
