This is a daytime photograph of the San Diego skyline taken from Coronado looking north.

All in a Row

When on a photoshoot, I often look for repeating patterns in nature or those created by man. Here is a series of images that all have something in common. 1) "Ducks in a Row," 2) "Beached Dingys," and 3) "Turtles in the Sun." Can you discern the commonalities? By the way, "Ducks in a Row" and "Beached Dingys" were taken on Coronado Beaches. And, surprisingly, "Turtles in the Sun" was taken while shooting a graduation portrait at San Diego State University.

Coronado Bridge

The Coronado Bridge arches gracefully across San Diego Bay from downtown San Diego near the Gaslamp Quarter to Coronado Island. This image was taken from the northeast shore of Coronado looking northeast.

Hotel del Coronado

Often referred to locally and affecionately as simply "The Del," the Hotel del Coronado has a long, rich and storied past. It was a favorite venue for Charles Lindberg and Marilyn Monroe (Some Like it Hot with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon), Thomas Edison, Babe Ruth and eleven US Presidents, as well as England's Prince of Wales. The Hotel boasts that "The resort has also seen a steady stream of celebrity visitors - from Charlie Chaplin and Humphrey Bogart to Brad Pitt and Madonna" (Quote courtesy of http://www.hoteldel.com/history.aspx).

The November evening was blustery and cold. My friend Margaret and I stood on the north shore of Coronado Island from dusk to dark, taking images every ten minutes. This is one of my favorites with its crisp, pristine beauty of the "Golden City."
