Following a recent winter storm, as I drove east from San Diego State University to La Mesa, I was thrilled to see the eastern mountains covered with snow and glistening in the morning light. Immediately I drove with my camera to Mt. Helix to take these photos, looking east beyond El Cajon.
Stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the west, Mexico to the south, Los Angeles to the north and the Borrego Desert to the east, San Diego County is the most ecologically diverse county in the US. Here we have a view of the desert from 7000 feet looking north and east from Laguna Mountain.
The hand of man, when superimposed upon nature's creations, results in form-constrained-by-geometry readily seen against the apparent background of natural chaotic structure. Here, in these three black and white compositions, taken on Mount Laguna 45 miles east of San Diego, one can easily discern human created form-as-function amidst the fractal beauty of nature.
